Adani Group enters China! What services will the new company AERCL provide?


Adani Group, which is continuously expanding its business abroad, has now entered China. According to the filing of the group’s flagship company Adani Enterprises, a subsidiary of its subsidiary in Singapore has formed a wholly-owned company Adani Energy Resources (Shanghai) Company (AERCL) in Shanghai, China.

According to regulatory filings, Adani Group has set up this company in China to advance its supply chain solutions and project management services business.

Adani Enterprises said in the filing that a Singapore-based step-down subsidiary has formed AERCL, a Shanghai-based wholly-owned subsidiary, on September 2, 2024.

This company has been formed by Adani Global (AGPTE), Singapore, which is a step-down subsidiary of AEL. The new company AERCL will provide its services in China.

The filing said, ‘AERCL has been registered under the Company Law of the People’s Republic of China on September 2, 2024. The company has not yet started its commercial operation.

Under the flagship company of Adani Group, AEL, the group’s mining, road, airport, data center and water infrastructure business comes. Adani Group, which operates 7 airports in the country, is continuously expanding its business abroad.

AEL has formed Global Airports Operator (llc), Abu Dhabi to invest in the airport business outside the country, acquire, build, operate, maintain and manage airports. Now this unit has also launched a Kenyan subsidiary.

Adani Group’s ‘airport’ in Kenya

Recently, AEL has formed a subsidiary company Airports Infrastructure (AIP) in Kenya, which will ‘acquire, operate, maintain, develop, design, upgrade and manage airports’ in this African nation. This company, formed on August 30, has not yet started its commercial operation here.

The Adani Group has made an offer to the Kenyan government to invest in its main airport, Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) in Nairobi.

The group has proposed investing US$750 million for a new terminal and taxiway system by 2029 and US$92 million for improvements by 2035.

JKIA, which will be Adani’s first airport outside India, is a major hub in East Africa. However, its infrastructure is crumbling. The group is in talks with the Kenyan government regarding this.
