Bhoomi Pujan done in Dharavi, soon the picture of Asia’s largest slum will change

The campaign to change the face of Asia’s largest slum Dharavi has intensified. On Thursday, Dharavi Redevelopment Project Private Limited (DRPPL) performed Bhoomi Pujan to start the redevelopment project of Dharavi. This Bhoomi Pujan was performed at the RPF grounds in Matunga.

According to a report published on PTI citing sources, this puja was performed in Sector-6 area and with this the construction work of railway staff quarters and offices began. There was also a proposal to develop these in Dharavi’s redevelopment tender.

The state government is already conducting a door-to-door survey in Dharavi to find out who is eligible for redevelopment and who is not. DRPPL is a joint venture between the Maharashtra government and the Adani Group and is working on the government’s vision to make Mumbai a slum-free city by 2030.

This mapping is very important for the redevelopment of Dharavi, a densely populated area spread over about 600 acres. Let us tell you that this redevelopment is expected to be completed in about 7 years. Under this redevelopment, eligible residents will get a flat of 350 sqft. Along with this, ineligible residents will also be settled in some other part of the city.

Better environment for future generations

Dharavi is one of the largest slum areas in the world. The redevelopment program being run under the leadership of Adani Group is the world’s largest redevelopment project. Nearly 10 lakh people were forced to live an inhuman life here. Now through redevelopment, a better present and future will be ensured for them and their future generations.
