CM Mamta Banerjee said- I am ready to resign! Governor said- I will boycott him publicly

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said in a press conference on Thursday that she is ready to resign for justice and for the people of West Bengal. Regarding the RG Kar Medical College case, she said that she wants justice for the female doctor who was raped and then murdered.

After the proposed meeting between the Chief Minister and the protesting junior doctors failed to take place, the CM said in a press conference, ‘I apologize to the people of Bengal, who were hoping that the deadlock over RG tax would end today. They (junior doctors) came to Nabanna, but did not attend the meeting. I request them to go back to work.’

The Chief Minister said, ‘I am ready to resign for the sake of the people, because despite my best efforts and good intentions in the last three days, the doctors refused to negotiate.’ CM Mamata Banerjee is also in charge of the Home and Health Department in the state.

Let us tell you that after the rape and murder of a female doctor in RG Kar Medical College, doctors and people in Bengal are angry. They are demanding strict punishment against the culprits and ensuring security for themselves. The Supreme Court also took suo motu cognizance of the matter and started proceedings. The court has formed a committee for the safety of doctors, while the striking doctors have been ordered to return to work.

The governor said – we will boycott the CM

On the other hand, West Bengal Governor CV Anand Bose said on Thursday that in view of the public anger over the deadlock on the RG tax issue, he will not share any public platform with Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Bose also said in a video message that he will also socially boycott the Chief Minister.

This message from the Governor came after the proposed meeting between the Chief Minister and the protesting junior doctors did not take place. Bose said, ‘I will not share any public platform with the Chief Minister. I will take action against him for violating constitutional provisions. My role as a Governor will be limited to constitutional obligations.’

‘CM could not perform her duty’

Bose said, ‘I am getting a lot of questions and memorandums from various sections of the public about what action the governor is proposing to end the current crisis in Bengal. I am committed to the people of Bengal.’

He said, ‘I believe that the government has failed in discharging its duties. As Home Minister, Mamata Banerjee has failed in her responsibility to maintain law and order.’

The governor said he was issuing directions to the chief minister for compliance under Article 167 of the Constitution. He had asked Banerjee to call an emergency cabinet meeting. The governor has also sought a white paper on the government’s alleged financial mismanagement. However, these directions were not followed.
