Green signal given to the establishment of NCoE on the lines of IIT-IIM; Youth will be industry ready for content creation along with gaming, visual effects


The Union Cabinet has given the green signal to the establishment of ‘National Center for Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, Comics and Extended Reality (NCoE)’. This institute will be set up in Mumbai. The aim of the institute is to accelerate innovation and growth in India’s creative economy.

The center will also try to accelerate research and development in this field by bringing together experts from computer science, engineering, design and art.

Apart from skill development, NCoE will also develop India’s intellectual property (IP) for domestic and international markets. NCoE will operate under Section 8 of the Companies Act 2013 in partnership with FICCI and CII.

NCoE created on the lines of IIT, IIM: Ashwini Vaishnav

On this occasion, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said, ‘NCoE has been modeled on IITs and IIMs. This center will provide world class infrastructure, state of the art technology and specialized skills to create a strong talent pool.’

Vaishnav further said, ‘Students will get practical knowledge through courses designed according to the needs of the industry. So that they can be ready for a job after graduation. Here you will get internships, mentorship for startups and content creation courses focused on India as well as the world.’
