JSW MG Comet EV price cut by ₹2 lakh; Buy electric car under ₹5 lakh

JSW MG Motor has brought you an EV car under Rs 5 lakh. In fact, by separating the battery cost from the car, the company has reduced the starting price of Comet EV to less than Rs 5 lakh.

Through the Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) program, the joint venture between India’s JSW Group and China’s SAIC Motor Company has brought down the starting prices of the Comet and ZS EV Electric by a significant amount. The program has reduced the price of the Comet by Rs 2 lakh and the price of the ZS EV Electric by Rs 4.99 lakh.

Revised prices of cars

• MG Comet BaaS: Rs 4.99 lakh + battery rental @ Rs 2.5/km

• MG ZS EV BaaS: Rs 13.99 lakh + battery rental @ Rs 4.5/km

Apart from this, the charging cost of the car will be ₹1/km, which will have to be paid by the customers. Also, customers will get the option of 60% buyback value after 3 years of usage.

JSW MG Motor introduced the first BaaS program in the Windsor EV launched this month. Starting at Rs 9.99 lakh, the battery rental in this car was Rs 3.5/km. Although this is a rental service based on the mileage of the car, users have to pay a minimum of Rs 5,250 every month, which is the charge for driving about 1,500 km.

Under this program, the customer will have to pay Rs 2.5/km for driving the Comet 1,500 kms in a month and if he drives more than that, the cost will be Rs 3.5/km.

JSW MG Motor India CCO Satinder Singh Bajwa said that ‘With BaaS, we have made it easier to buy an EV car. I am confident that this ownership model will further promote EV in the country’

MG Comet is a two-door urban car that can seat four people, although the space is a little small. This car can cover a distance of 230 km on a single charge. On the other hand, MG ZS EV is a 4.3 meter SUV, which competes with Tata Curvv and BYD Seal in India’s new EV market. The driving range of this car on a single charge is 461 km.
