Slow trading in the market; Nifty closed up by 27 points, pressure on FMCG, IT


On the first trading day of the week, the stock market closed with a gain, but the trading was sluggish. The market opened with a gain due to good global signals and around 10 am the market also reached a record high. However, pressure was seen on the market from 11 am. There was profit booking at higher levels in the market. The market also went into the red mark around 12 noon. However, there was a recovery in the market after that. In the end, Sensex closed with a gain of 98 points and Nifty with a gain of 27 points.

On Monday, pressure was seen on FMCG and IT stocks. Stocks like ITC, HUL, Godrej Consumer closed with losses. Most of the railway and defense stocks also fell. In railway, IRFC, RVNL, IRCON International fell by more than 2%.

On the other hand, energy stocks rose. Most bank stocks also rose. Midcap and smallcap saw a slight increase.

The Sensex opened at 82,985. During the day, it reached a record high of 83,184.34. In the end, the Sensex rose 0.12% or 98 points to close at 82,989. 15 of its stocks were bought and 15 were sold.

Nifty closed above 25,300

Nifty opened at 25,407. During the day it reached a record level of 25,445.7. Nifty closed at 25,384, up 0.11% or 27 points. 26 of its stocks were bought and 24 were sold.

Most sectoral indices saw a rise. Media rose the most by 1.15%. Energy saw a rise of 0.82%. FMCG fell by 0.73%. IT fell by 0.19%.

On the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), 2,150 stocks rose and 1,957 stocks fell. 94 stocks remained unchanged.
