Slowdown in the market; Nifty closed down by 32 points, but midcap and smallcap saw good growth


The stock market closed with a slight decline on the last trading day of the week. Today there were strong global signals for the market. On Friday, the US market was bullish. Most Asian markets were also booming. After this the market opened flat. Not only this, the market went into the red mark in the initial minutes. The market kept trading in a very limited range throughout the day. In the end, Sensex closed down by 72 points and Nifty by 32 points.

Actually, after Thursday’s spectacular rise, there was profit booking in the market on Friday. That is why the pressure remained.

On Friday, railway shares saw a rise. IRCON International, RITES, IRCTC closed up by more than 2%. On the other hand, shares of government companies have declined. PFC, BEL, BPCL all fell.

On the other hand, shares of public sector banks saw a rise. SBI, PNB, IOB, Bank of Maharashtra rose by more than 4%. Although there was profit booking in the heavyweights in the market, a good rise was seen in midcap and smallcap. Nifty midcap rose by 0.66% and smallcap by 0.78%.

Sensex closed below 82,900

The Sensex opened at 83,091. It touched a low of 82,653 during the day. Finally, the Sensex fell 0.09% or 72 points to close at 82,891. 11 of its stocks were bought and 19 were sold.

Nifty closed below 25,400

Nifty opened at 25,430. It touched a low of 25,292 during the day. Nifty closed down 0.13% or 32 points at 25,357. 18 stocks were bought and 32 were sold.

Most sectoral indices rose

Most sectoral indices saw a rise. Realty rose the most by 1.73%. Media saw a rise of 1.68%. PSU banks rose by 1.23%. Metal saw a rise of 0.86%.

How was the overall business?

2,477 stocks rose and 1,480 fell on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) Shares fell. There was no change in 110 shares.
