Universal coverage for the elderly now under Ayushman Yojana, allocation of ₹70,000 crores to PMGSY; major decisions


Today, in the cabinet meeting, major decisions related to infra development and welfare schemes have been taken. In the briefing, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav gave information about the major decisions of the Modi government related to Ayushman Yojana, new electric vehicle subsidy scheme as well as Gram Sadak Yojana.

There itself PM Gram Sadak Yojana About Rs 70,000 crore has been allocated in the scheme. While PM E Drive Now with the New Electric Vehicle Subsidy Scheme has been announced.

Universal coverage for the elderly under Ayushman Yojana

Now universal coverage is being given to senior citizens above 70 years of age under the scheme. Giving information in this regard, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said:

  • Senior citizens who already have Ayushman coverage will have a shared top up coverage of Rs 5 lakh. Shared top up means that all senior citizens will have a combined coverage of Rs 5 lakh.

  • Senior citizens who do not have coverage under Ayushman Yojana will get a new cover of Rs 5 lakh.

  • Those who are covered under any central or state schemes will have the option to choose either Ayushman or the existing coverage.

  • 4.5 crore families and 6 crore senior citizens will benefit. Existing 12.3 crore families will get more benefits.

The scope of PM Gram Sadak Yojana has been increased

  • Rs 70,125 crore will be available for the scheme

  • 62,500 km of rural roads will be built

  • 25,000 villages will be connected to the main road

New Electric Vehicle Subsidy Scheme

The government has allocated Rs 10,900 crore under the new EV subsidy scheme PM E-Drive. This is another big effort by the world’s third largest automotive industry to promote electric mobility.

Under this scheme called PM E-Drive, the EV subsidy is mainly focused on electric 2-wheelers, trucks, ambulances and buses as well as charging infrastructure. This means that cars are not covered under the scheme.

Rs 2,000 crore for Mission Mausam

  • New technology and systems will be implemented

  • Emphasis on data-based technology

  • With the help of AI, ML, accurate weather predictions will be possible
